Through the years, kids entertainment has developed into quite a well oiled machine. It started back years ago with characters simple enough. Mickey Mouse morphed from Steamboat Willie to one of the most popular and recognizable faces on the earth. It's amazing that Walt Disney was able to transport his character to such greatness. The modern day Disney channel now features Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and of course there is great merchandise that comes with it.
When I was a kid, it was definitely all about Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. I'd watch those shows every day and loved every second before preschool. I even had all kinds of toys that were bought for me. The great thing about those shows were that they pioneered kids entertainment with education. Kids TV shows would never be the same. Shows like Barney and Dora the Explorer owe a big thanks to Sesame Street paving the way. Hats off to Burt, Ernie, Kermit the Frog, Big Bird and even Oscar the Grouch. They've allowed great shows like Wow Wow Wubbzy to follow them and have success. Kids are able to learn how to overcome obstacles at an early age as well as get a jump start on the alphabet and other life skills. I'm sure these shows will continue as long as kids keep watching, and as long as merchandise keeps getting sold.
